Apart from the stories that I have written I have published a couple of articles to express my thoughts on various topics.

Years ago I wrote an article (only in Dutch) based on a theoretical diagram. The diagram consists of four groups of eco-design that originate from the combination of two parameters: 1) old or new materials and 2) intented or alternative function. The title of this article refers to the last group in this diagram: the reuse of rotten, apparent useless refuse.

My fascination with new and sustainable materials has lead to two different articles. The first (only in Dutch) was written for a magazine on architecture. This article gives an overview of about 20 different materials selected by sustainable performance. These materials are seperated in groups like 'pure nature' and 'plastic fantastic'. The title comes from the last relatively new group that I discussed: materials with an interesting and sustainable story line.

Materials Paradise is the second publication (only in Dutch) on new materials. Here I fantasized about a place nonexistent on earth. I still long for this magnificent building. Thirteen stores high, each store dedicated to a different group of materials. Free entrance for all and a lot of information available. Would you like to know more about the characteristics of a new composite or feel the soft surface of the newest plastic on the market? Materials Paradise is the place to be.

At times I feel the urge to write about a subject that bothers me. When the world turned mad on september 11th 2001 I wrote an article on the possible effects of the attacks and the following 'war on terrorism' for the design field (only in Dutch). I felt it is part of our responsibility to make an end to the injustice in a world were more then one billion people live on less than one dollar a day. I am convinced that this disbalance is one of the factors feeding terrorism.

Another article (translated in English) deals with the idea of the experience economy and the consequences of such a society for the development of new materials. It was published in a catalogue for an exhibition on new materials.

My latest article has been published in a book on retail design. It is an extensive piece on the concept of the sustainable experience. The article is an effort to give a definition by explaining what is not sustainable in the shopping culture and what is. The text is a strong plea for the existence of Homo Ludens, e.g. man the player. The book can be purchased at Episode publishers.

Apart from articles I like to write little pieces of text as well. Like this one:

There is no beginning
there is no end

All that counts
is now my friend
